  20. I’m sure this is what they thought they would be doing when they signed up. Oh yeah don’t worry about your regular job we are going to call you up to come help pick up trash. You totally had nothing better to do with your time. Remember the national guard is a part time deal. Most of these people have regular jobs they are having to take breaks from to participate in this dictator theater.

  23. The point was never to fight crime. It was to normalize the presence of the military in US cities to terrorize and oppress dissenters of Trump. Having them pick up trash now furthers that goal.

  28. I think someone in the chain of command doesn’t like their orders and is having the guardsmen collect trash to publicly show there’s nothing for them to be doing and the deployment is a waste of time.

  29. Probably because this really has nothing to do with crime but is a military takeover of the country. If only there was some other time in history that this had happened that we could look to for where this will go from here.

  31. Trump is dumb. He could have just hired a huge team of city maintenance workers to pick up trash and fix roads and such. He would have gotten a ton of support for that. BUT NO he had to do all this…
