The NFL’s waiver wire deadline has passed, and unclaimed players are now free to sign with new teams, whether on 53-man rosters or practice squads.

Teams are also making moves, like the Vikings trading for old friend Adam Thielen with the Panthers. The veteran wide receiver is headed to Minnesota, where he played for 10 seasons to start his career as an undrafted free agent, along with a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick, while Carolina gets a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick and a fifth-round pick in 2027 in return.

The Chiefs might be looking for wide receiver help soon too, with Rashee Rice reportedly accepting a six-game suspension from the NFL to start the season. The news comes after Rice was sentenced in July to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation for his part in the crash. At the time of the crash, Rice’s lawyer confirmed that his client was driving a Lamborghini that was racing a Corvette involved in an accident with three other vehicles on a highway in northeast Dallas. He was driving 119 mph just before the crash occurred, according to a police report.

Ravens extend All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton with record-setting deal: The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a four-year, $100.4 million contract extension for star safety Kyle Hamilton. He now officially holds the largest contract for a safety in NFL history, beating out Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph’s record-setting four-year, $86 million extension signed earlier this offseason. Hamilton was named a first-team All-Pro in 2023 and second team last season.

De’Von Achane expected to be ready for Week 1: When the Miami Dolphins take the field against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, the team’s star running back will be in the backfield. De’Von Achane will be ready for the game, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said Wednesday. That should come as welcome news to Dolphins fans and fantasy managers. After taking part in the team’s first preseason game, Achane sustained a calf injury and was held out of the remaining preseason contests. The 23-year-old also missed practices, though the team deemed his absence as precautionary.

Dillon Gabriel is Browns’ QB ahead of Shedeur Sanders: Dillon Gabriel has earned the backup quarterback job with the Cleveland Browns, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Tuesday. Shedeur Sanders will serve as the team’s emergency third quarterback, officially making the team’s initial 53-man roster. On Monday, the Browns traded veteran Kenny Pickett to the Raiders, clearing the way for Gabriel to be QB2.

Spencer Rattler beats out Tyler Shough for Saints QB job: The New Orleans Saints named Spencer Rattler their starting quarterback on Tuesday. First-year head coach Kellen Moore has his guy, for now at least. The unexpected May retirement of four-time Pro Bowler Derek Carr put Moore in a tough position. He had to choose a QB1 from an unproven set of passers: a rookie in Tyler Shough, a second-year signal-caller in Rattler and three-year veteran Jake Haener.
