  9. I’m hoping the explanation is sheer ignorance. Possibly a sack of flags was stored in an office somewhere and one less than savvy employee was told to put them all back up for the film festival. There are people in Venice who don’t know their flags.

Venice film festival is supporting all of this: russia has caused over **13,580 civilian deaths and 34,115 injuries**, including at least **716 children killed** and more than **2,520 child casualties in total**, damaged or destroyed approximately **2 million housing units** (10% of the national stock), over **26,000 km of roads**, at least **650 bridges**, and extensive railway infrastructure, disabled more than **3,790 schools** and **780 healthcare facilities** (including **910 hospitals and clinics completely destroyed),** carried out over **1,760 attacks on healthcare**, deported more than **20,000 children**, mined **23% of the country’s territory** (over **1 million mines**), displaced between **9.4 and 11.4 million people** (including **3.8–4.6 million internally** and **5.6–6.8 million abroad**), and since the beginning of the invasion has launched over **11,466 missiles** and tens of thousands of drones, including a record **5,400 in June 2025 alone**.

    They are corrupt to their bones and should always be remembered as such.

    Displaying the Russian flag is unacceptable and a profound insult to all victims of Russia’s ongoing war crimes in Ukraine. While Russian soldiers are raping, killing, and torturing Ukrainian civilians, raising that flag is nothing less than a disgrace.

    I demand that you immediately remove the flag. Furthermore, I expect a clear explanation of who authorized this decision, especially given that Russia is not even participating in the event.

    This act is not just a mistake – it shows a shocking lack of awareness and responsibility.

Alors que des soldats russes violent, tuent et torturent des civils ukrainiens, hisser ce drapeau est tout simplement une honte.

    J’exige que ce drapeau soit retiré immédiatement. De plus, j’attends une explication claire sur la personne qui a autorisé cette décision, d’autant plus que la Russie ne participe même pas à l’événement.

  24. Between this , Woody Allen visiting Russia, and Russia at War, there appears to be an attempt at “art-washing” going on. The Nazis tried it with The Triumph of Will, .We Make Music, etc. Didn’t make them any less of butchers at the end of the day. I mean the video evidence of this is,unfortunately, readily available.
