My wife’s uncle had the DVD Das Boot. Seems to be a common thing from the 80s.
It’s a hyper realistic (Anti) war movie about a german U boat crew during WW2.
It has a runtime of 3 and a half hours.
Das Boot was a huge success in the U.K. too. We had the film and it was also shown on TV as a series.

Also a milestone in cameratechnic….see it in a line with Apokalypse now and Kill Bill….
Great three part tv series. One of the best war movies ever made. Even more than the movie I can recommend the book from lothar buchheim who has experienced life on a submarine as a war correspondent.
You should watch it
My bf successfully traumatized me with this movie, still hear the haunting tune in the last scene play in my head sometimes :'(
That being said, it is an incredible movie.

Well, it’s the OST to Das Boot. That movie only got nominated for six Oscars, so it’s a pretty underground movie.

Das Boot is my favorite german movie. The Soundtrack is legendary!
