Considering how he lived, married a lot of women and killed some of them. Had a overeating habit. After a accident he lost his charm and turned to a tyrant. He had puss pouring out if his leg which made the entire palace stink. And he couldn’t even move to other rooms or places without help of lot of helpers.

  1. Well before his jousting accident he was a rather benevolent and charismatic King – As Monarchs go in that time period. All the bad things we know, and are told about, him in a negative sense came after he smashed his head and was trampled upon by his massive warhorse.

His change was almost instant, too. He signed the death warrant for Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth witnessed her mother’s execution and how her father, the King, behaved and historians largely believe that is a large reason she turned out like she did.

As time passed the smell of rot and decay grew and grew. To the point that with even the most potent smells used by chemists to cover the smell of the rot – it still made people vomit with in seconds. He constantly hallucinated and his slow death drove him even more insane.

Apparently his body exploded in its metal coffin and a few dogs were found lapping up the juices that had leaked from the coffin.

All in all it was a very disgusting affair. Though if you are a fan of hypotheticals. If he did not have his accident and he remained as he was. I wonder how much that might have changed history. Because it was Elizabeth’s tenacity, zeal, and cut throated behaviour that lead to Mary’s demise and the foundation of what would become the Royal Navy and the Empire.

  2. I mean Lady Jane Grey only got to be Queen for nine days before being beheaded so I would argue she had it worse at least Henry got to be the Monarch for decades

  3. Yes i personally believe that
    The worst Queen was Mary
    BLOODY MARY

  4. Well for most of his life he was in relatively good shape, it was only later on in life what with the whole leg crushing that he got rotund. I mean if you’re asking from a quality of life standpoint then yeah the end was pretty rough, if you’re asking for a morality standpoint then yeah pretty much the whole thing was rough but name me five monarchs who had a clean conscious, not counting Jane Grey or Elizabeth II

  5. His is a life of two halves, before the jousting accident and after.

Prior to his head injury he was a slim, handsome and a more than capable king. Post accident he became a bitter, paranoid, hugely overweight and belligerent. How much of this came from pain from his leg ulcers and how much was the notable personality change from the head injury.

His inability to produce a living male heir would trouble him, his paranoia was stoked by Cromwell and others at court which certainly contributed to his behaviours.

  6. I don’t think he even lived the worst life out of all the kings of England called Henry.

Henry VI ascended to the throne at the age of 8 months and spend most of his life being pushed around as a political pawn. Even ignoring his nervous breakdowns and serious mental health issues, he was not really suited to kingship. He was deposed, subsequently reinstated but ended his life imprisoned and quite possibly murdered.

  7. I’d say Charles I had a pretty rough time of it. Brought it on himself though.
