  1. Putin doesn’t want Peace. He wants the restoration of the Soviet Union

  2. Putin is playing for time. He’ll drag things out as long as he can. He didn’t invade Ukraine just to give up for nothing.

  3. Seriously, is anyone really surprised here? Trump is the weakest leader you could have for these moments.

Putin want to put the old USSR back together and is dragging this out to keep the US out of the conflict and hold off the EU at the same time.

A leader with actual strength would ratchet up the support to Ukraine and make this plan an impossibility.

  4. The article references [an earlier Trump statement](https://www.politico.eu/article/ukraine-war-donald-trump-vladimir-putin-european-troops-peacekeeping):

    >U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin was ready to accept European peacekeepers in Ukraine

That’s very odd. I wonder who got this all backwards.

Putin has consistently rejected European forces on the ground in Ukraine. What he *did* apoear to agree to was [Article 5-like security guarantees](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crm4ln2ekg1o) (which was also on the table in 2022), but that’s a completely different thing.

Was it Trump that misunderstood, or was it the reporter?

  5. Trump just looks for photo op and press show off, most things he say is lie.

  6. Who gives a shit what he wants? He’s deploying North Korean troops in Ukraine – so he gets no say on how Europe responds.

  7. Since when does he get to tell the other side what to do?

  8. Trump didn’t get his boss’s instructions correctly… Such a poor employee.

  9. He is ruling out Europeans, Americans, NATO on purpose, he would rather see North Korea, African or Chinese peacekeepers so when he breaks the deal, he has an army in place already to take the rest of Ukraine and probably the Baltics with it. He would most likely do a false flag op to bring it on. We new’s to break the tyrants back and put the country in a wheelchair

  10. What? The guy invading Ukraine doesn’t want things happening that hampers his ability to invade Ukraine? :/

  11. Looks like Trump is finding out the hard way about the “Hot Dog Slip” technique that Hafez Al-Assad mastered while dealing with Western World Leaders when he was ruling Syria.

Putin will never come to a peace agreement. He will always sell Trump on the idea of peace, set it up, then slip the “Hot Dog from the bun” the last second.

If Trump had the attention span to watch a three hour BBc documentary on Syria, he would learn this very quickly.

  12. Putin wants all of Ukraine. He might settle for an installment plan: part now, the rest in a few years after he regroup.

And he certainly doesn’t want any peacekeepers–they would just get in the way of retaliation against any Ukraininas he finds.

Trump? Trump will bow his head and ask Putin what he want, then give it to him. Everything else Trump does is posturing, groveling, and fake.

  13. It’s not so much that he is contradicting Trump as Trump is a liar and his puppet.
    Trump is irrelevant

  14. Putin is very sincere. The Ukrainians should absolutely give up vast swathes of land to secure the deal. /s

  15. No surprise. Putin still feel he has the upper hand in setting term. He doesn’t want guard dog that can actually bite instead of yelping.

  16. There is only one way to end this and everyone is too afraid to do the difficult thing

  17. Why are we letting this guy dictate what happens in another country?

  18. So what exactly is Putin going to do about it, invade Ukraine? 🤣🤣🤣

  19. When did they need to ask for permission? Pitter patter, boys!

  20. That’s not up to Putin, who defends the peace in Ukraine

  21. Putin has no intentions of any peace that does not give him everything he wants, which is all of Ukraine. He has attacked the country twice now. After he was allowed to keep Crimea after he invaded, he learned that the west does not have the stomach to resist him. So why would he agree to anything.

  22. Why the f—ing f— do we care about what Putin “rejects”? He wants this was to end in a full Ukraine capitulation, taking over Ukrainian lands, changing the government to a Belarus-like regime, and having those really Ukrainians stop complaining about those kids he kidnapped. Anything less than that, and his strongman posture crumbles, and the vultures start circling. I’m his mind he has to win, or he too may fall out of a window.

  23. Wouldn’t it be wild if a bunch appeared and the Europeans said we are having a picnic here if my men get hurt we will bring in the pain.

  24. European Peacekeepers should have a “military exercise” in Ukraine

  25. Let me bit this out there. Trump sees a future where the Russian-US empire is the dominant nation state and we think he and his boyfriend Putin will be co-emperors! You can Reddit here first!!

  26. “Guys, no fair, I can’t fight you all”

    Yeah…that’s the point…

  27. What a surprise, another purposefully ridiculous demand he knows Europe and Ukraine will never accept, thus makong yet another attempt at a deal fruitless. And TACO falls for this stupid tactic time and again.

  28. Not sure why people are still even asking putin anything. His lil bitchass intentions have been clear for years. The time for conversation with him has long passed. He’s a vicious thug and should be treated as such.
