I live about 6-7 hours away from Kalajoki and would have to stay there for a day or two which brings me to my question that is the festival worth going to?

  1. Booze, few pop artists performing, more booze, fireworks, even more booze, optional fist fight at the grill, even more booze, pass out. Apart from the fireworks you can have this at any city most weekends and sometimes even on wednesdays.

  2. Venetsialaiset in Finland is literally just another booze fest.

Case on point, I’ve never seen Kiikeli (Oulu) as full of teenagers having pussikalja as in last year’s venetsialaiset.

  3. I mean it’s nice if you have friends and/or family with you and you rent a beach house and have a BBQ and watch the fireworks. Is it worth going to Kalajoki for? I doubt it. Especially if you’re going alone. Back 10-15 years ago the Venetian fest in Kokkola was better for out of towners, don’t know how it is nowadays.
