Hi, I'm still thinking about the possibility of using drones to protect tanks and other vehicles against enemy kamikaze drones, and why we still don't see anything like this.
Every tank in a action is targeted by enemy drones with rpg heads etc, if we know that, why we are not using drones with HE explosives to attack them ?
2ww anti air HE rounds worked just fine with exploding 'around the airplanes', causing some damage or even downing the plane, can't we use same effect on a small drones ?
Every tank in action can be escorted with 2 drones with explosives, when we see enemy drone approaching operating tank, we can try to get as close as possible, and detonate charge, which probably can damage enemy drone and cause its inaccuracy or event crash. If we keep defending drones near the tank, they can work "like" hard kill APS, aren't they ?

Because it’s too hard to intercept an FPV with another FPV
Kamikaze drones are incredibly small and fast, I don’t see a way for suicidal drones to be effectively used against them in-time before they beeline towards a tank. It takes a kamikaze in 3-dimensional space less effort to hit a target in 2-dimensional space than it takes an operator of a suicide “counter-drone” in 3-dimensional space to hit another equally small object in 3-dimensional space. It’s possible, it’s been done before, but it is not sustainable to be a common tactic
It’s like hitting a bullet with a bullet.
You’ll probably have better luck making a semi automatic shotgun into a cheap CWIS full of bird shot and mounting that on the tank.
If you can use a FPV to automatically spot and intercept an incoming drone, why have it wasting energy and availability by flying around? Why not have it mounted on the tank and automatically fired at the enemy drone when it’s detect? In which case it’s an anti drone point defence weapon, not a bunch of drones.
I don’t think any system that requires humans will work.
I think the answer will be in the form of an APS system. These are already in use. I just think we need to develop one just for drones that can be mounted on any vehicle easily. It should also be easily and quickly reloadable because a single vehicle can encounter many drones on a single mission.
