As an aside, I had the job of visiting a Lincoln (Scampton is just a few miles away) school to do some charity work. As my colleague and I sat in the waiting area awaiting the class teacher, my gaze was drawn to the artwork on display. Lovely pictures of Jesus on the cross, with frolicking animals. Next to a section commemorating the Damnbusters… excellent drawings of bombers shedding their loads with explosions below. I was a little shocked. Age of the artists … about 8 or 9 years old.
