Saving or supporting multibillion corporations with tax money is not socialism, it is the opposite. And I will explain why. Socialism means supporting social interest in some cases over private interest, when both are in conflict. In this case the state socializes losses, but not profits. So social interest is losing, private interest is gaining. This is par excellence capitalism, although it is not free market capitalism.
And in general free market capitalism does not work, because free market is utopia. It is utopia for competitive anarchy, like the communism is utopia for cooperative anarchy – so factually none country ever managed to establish communism, because like the free market, this is literally impossible. Free market supposes all people will compete fair and free. But without regulations people simply play unfair. Communism suppose all people will cooperate fair and free. But without regulations people are greedy, and often do not cooperate.
No. What he’s doing is definitively fascism.
More like fascism or communism than socialism by a long shot.
Cheeto isn’t a socialist; he’s just a greedy POS who is using a public office for private gain.
National Socialist.
Taking investment position in a privately held business that has national security risks is not socialism. The government is not taking control of means of production.
Socialism would be if they took over the company.
This country has a mixed history of “public” companies with government involvement, especially in GM when it was bailed out and even things like Fannie/Freddie.
He seems like a dictator, people need to stop misusing the term socialist.
That national kind of socialism
Some might say, a “National Socialist.”
Maybe Maoist?
Building a sovereign wealth portfolio has nothing to do with being socialist. Socialist is having everyone be dependent on the government.
Mussolini supposedly said “Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.”
10% of Intel, and now Lutnick says he wants to buy more equity stakes starting with the corrupt Lockheed.
Americans?! you still don’t know what socialism is? lol
Capitalism is the enemy if free markets. Capitalists just want to make more money. The best way to make shit tons of money is running a monopoly and enforcing it via corruption. A free (fair) market needs working rules to prevent a capitalist takeover.
Socialism is about giving power to workers (who earn their money via income, not generational wealth) and builds on ideas of equality, justice, and solidarity.
One of those descriptions fits the orange gooner. The other one, not so much…
Communist.
