Hi all,

We’re visiting Germany and staying near LEGOLAND. Any idea what sort of snake this is? It’s chilling on a rock in a very quiet area.

  1. A rattlesnake (you can see the rattle on the end of its tail).

  2. If it has a rattle at the tail, then it is highly likely a Rattlesnake.

  3. This looks like a rattlesnake, at least a snake which typically does not live in free areas in Germany. Looks like it broke out somewhere. Call the police.

  4. It looks like a diamond back rattlesnake, but are you sure you’re in German or that this thing is real? If yes, call the police

  5. That tail looks weird – it doesn’t have actual segments, just black lines. I think this is most likely fake – maybe to keep birds away?

  6. Californian here. That’s a fake western diamondback rattle snake.

  7. Looks like a diamondback to me. But there are also “fake diamondback” versions. Either way, if you are in Germany, call the police.

  8. Looks like a toy. Did it move at all?

It is in threat display, they don’t stay like this for extended periods of time and definitely not while chilling. The colours also look off.

  9. Hey, OP, can you give a sitrep on whether it’s a confirmed toy or a life snake ?

  10. Although it does look like a rattlesnake but knowing you are in germany, it would be a miracle to find a rattlesnake in the wild.
Rattlesnakes are not native to germany and generally all snakes (except 2 ) found here are non venomous.

You should let the authorities know unless its a toy

  11. It’s an adder, stay away and leave them alone, they are protected and the only snake in Europe that’s poisonous.
They are also very shy and none aggressive

  12. It’s a rubber toy snake. 🙂 Owner came and picked it up. It’s his son’s.

  13. What the shit is this lol. How are you not able to identify that it’s a toy? You call the police for this? Sorry but that is a waste of time and honestly seems forced.

It will be a good story to tell your friends though, which is what I am betting you will count on doing.
