This was Egton Show near Whitby. It was my first time going to a village show and I had the best day. I’ve been trying to photograph more summertime events and finally found a show that I could get to.

Came home with a curd tart, jar of chuckleberry jam and assorted pies. 😍

  1. Was that 2nd picture the largest sheep or smallest farmer competition?

  2. I love this style of photography, reminds me of a photographer called Martin Parr, great collection of photos glad you had a really fun time

  3. Great pics. Lovely to see these local Shows continue to thrive

  4. A great thing in this photo set is I can’t see a single phone being used. A bit of editing and you’d struggle to tell it’s 2025 in some of them

Of course in picture 13 the £4 for a 99 with a flake is a bit of a giveaway

  5. The Halifax show (earlier this month) is very similar. The highlight for me was the terrier racing. That alone was worth the £10 entry fee. Absolute scenes in the arena when someone entered a french bulldog.

  6. I love these. They’re incredible, I love the style.

  7. This weekend we’re entering our village fair in the ‘largest marrow’ category’. We have high hopes.

  8. I love these, and I love shows. What I don’t like is those eggs on plates.

  9. Lovely photos. You captured the spirit of the event very well.

  10. Love a village show but where I live you normally need to go to a County show to get the full experience, Too many village shows near me dont have animals or sometimes even the cakes and vegetable competitions any more. <old man shakes fist at cloud.gif>

  11. Always loved a good sheep contest. Any controversies this year?..

  12. I’m fascinated to find out the judging criteria for what makes a prize winning egg.
