Gaza: Israel strikes hospital, killing five journalists • FRANCE 24 English

This hospital had just been hit by the Israeli army and was hit a second time just a few minutes later. The first strike gave journalists and rescue workers just enough time to arrive on the scene only to be killed in the second one. This double tap strike method, which is prohibited under international law, is frequently used by Israel in Gaza. The double tap strike is a controversial uh tactic designed really to maximize uh the casualties in an attack. And in this case uh strikes targeted not only a hospital, not only rescue workers, doctors, journalists, and civilians. All of these groups are considered groups that have to be protected under international law even in times of war. In the face of international reactions and condemnation by the UN, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he regretted the tragic mishap. Five journalists were killed in the second single strike. Since October 7, 2023, nearly 200 journalists have been killed in Gaza, which is more than over the two world wars and the Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Ukraine wars combined.

Israel struck one of the main hospitals in the Gaza Strip on Monday and then hit the facility again as journalists and rescue workers rushed to the scene, killing at least 20 people and wounding scores more, local health workers said.

  18. If we don't want journalists be killed, let's not have them take sides in a conflict. Let them be real journalists, rather than activists. Let them not be complicit with terrorist organizations which aim at exterminating Jewish life.
