A driver is in critical condition after a crash on the Adirondack Northway late Wednesday night in Malta.
State Police said a car going north hit an unoccupied truck, which was parked on the shoulder between Exit 11 and Exit 12 just after 11 p.m. The work zone there was not active at the time, police said.
The driver was seriously injured, investigators said. They were taken to the hospital after that initial crash.
Police said several cars hit debris, causing two more crashes.
No one was hurt during those collisions, police said.
The lanes reopened around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday.
