Following the arrest of a Croatian pilot and his Serbian girlfriend on suspicion of espionage, the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, has said that they take these allegations seriously, and that the integrity of classified information is paramount.
“We take these allegations very seriously. The safety of KFOR personnel and the integrity of classified information are paramount. We refer you to the Croatian authorities for any comment regarding the arrest and the ongoing investigations,” KFOR stated.
Meanwhile, the Kosovo Government has rejected claims that the woman arrested by Croatian authorities on suspicion of espionage for Serbia may have provided important and confidential information from the Prime Minister’s Office. The Government has expressed the readiness of Kosovo institutions to cooperate with those of Croatia for the further development of investigations and the full disclosure of the activities and network of action.
Otherwise, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Split announced on August 28 that after receiving the criminal report from the Independent Sector for Military Police Affairs a day earlier, it has undertaken the first investigative actions and issued a decision to initiate investigations against a citizen of the Republic of Croatia for the criminal offense of espionage, and against a citizen of the Republic of Serbia for the same criminal offense.
