Sweden’s state-owned passenger operator SJ has dismissed CEO Monica Lingegård, sparking an ageism debate at the top of the country’s rail sector. Jonas Abrahamsson, currently CEO of Swedavia, the state-owned airport operator, will take over in March 2026. Lingegård will remain in charge until then, despite being forced to leave.
