so he was a mercenary then? What did the US and UK say about foreign nationals who travelled to countries to fight after they had invaded? I guess Russia has that precedent as a guideline now.
All I can say is fair fucks to him for staying and fighting for his new country. He probably could have left with his U.K. passport, but he stayed and fought for what he believed in.
