  1. Break it down by religion, please. I doubt it would be Jainists.

  2. There are a bunch of these posts on this sub today in what appears to be an extremely overtly coordinated manner. Every single one of them is comparing recent figures to 2021. There were fewer crimes when we were in a national lockdown for extremely obvious reasons.

  3. A lot more Indians are being given visas since brexit. So an increase is exactly what you would expect.

  4. The hate machine keeps turning. You’re being manipulated, wake up to who’s really causing the suffering in your life, and news flash it ain’t brown skinned people.

  5. Remember all people and cultures are equal and the same. If an ethnic group is ever overrepresented for any crime this is proof of racism.

  6. Stories are so easy to make fit an existing viewpoint and not question them. If I was serious in forming an objective viewpoint, some things I’d look at (and the journalists should look at).

    1. Are the numbers of Indian nationals in the UK increasing by that much lately? Not likely by even close to the number of increased convictions, but worth putting into perspective.

    2. Have the numbers of reported sex crime incidents changed significantly? Because this could be a success story for improved justice in cases because this is convictions where the reported number is similar but more are reaching trial than before.

    3. Given it’s unlikely a group of people suddenly change enough to commit significantly more crime in a few years, why are more now being successfully caught and convicted? Is it more public attention being brought to these cases and the police and justice system are responding accordingly? Or if they are just committing a lot more offences, again why would that happen?

If I was a betting man, I would guess the grooming gangs news – a properly done investigation by the Times – and the subsequent public attention has made the police take these cases much more seriously and this is a win. But I shouldn’t have to guess, and wouldn’t have to if journalism wasn’t shallow ragebait.

  7. Could it be due to now collecting crime data correctly by race rather than “other”?!

  8. Any woman who has visited India alone could have told you this was inevitable.
