  1. “Our country’s ruined” say people who wish to see the foundations the country was built on completely ignored in favour of mob violence.

  2. > Dinah says she “doesn’t watch mainstream news” because of “media lies” over Brexit.

    > Instead, she says she gets her news from social media.

    Says it all really.

  3. I mean the same people that voted to ruin the country with brexit are now saying the country is ruined. You couldn’t make it up.

  4. Maybe stop listening to the people who ruined it.

  5. I really can’t see how letting asylum seekers live in hotels is ruining the country. You know what is though? Right wing grifters pushing a narrative to benefit themselves and their supporters.

  6. Ruined, they say. I wonder what they will say when they vote in the far right, and they lose benefits, the NHS and maybe even the state pension at some point later.

Add to that the retiring boomers exiting the economy and ai reducing the number of jobs available. Also, an ever increasing cost of living.

They think its immigrants, I think its right-wing economics, the whole idea of small government or in other words, a decade and a half of austerity that got us here. Alongside decades of a low birth rate (i blame neoliberalism for this), which means the tax revenue will be less than before while at the same time having to pay for the people retired. I think we’re absolutely ruined without immigrants. At least for the next 20 to 30 years, anyway, because even if everyone started having kids today, it will take that long to fix the mess we’re in

  7. I wonder what happened in recent memory that has caused it to be even more shit

  8. “They come from cultures that aren’t as civilised as ours,” he says, standing with molotov cocktail in hand ready to burn down a hotel full of people.

  9. I’ve literally just had a conversation with someone who stated boat people are ruining the country with how much they cost the tax payers.
I told him how much tax avoidance by billionaires costs the country. He was shocked.

  10. The country is ruined because of these pricks that’s what really fucks me off.

Brexit absolutely fucked us but no one is allowed to talk about it, because these twats will kick off.

I remember telling people online during Brexit – you are just swapping European immigration for third world immigration. The country relies on cheap labour imported from abroad.

And now we are meant to listen to this?

  11. Brexit ruined us the years of austerity rich getting richer greedflation selling every single service the UK owned to other countries so they can run it into the ground like our water.
It’s not the benefit frauds or the boat people it’s the Tories the rich elites. The news papers the tax avoiding billionaires the non doms that poison every aspect of our lives so they can make more money to ship overseas to secret bank accounts.

And to keep us all fighting blame the boat people blame the trans blame the benefit frauds. Blame everyone with zero power to change anything .

  12. The ones who ruined the country are also the ones who own the media outlets that are telling people that migrants are the problem. For example GBNews is jointly owned by multi-millionaire hedge fund manager Sir Paul Marshall (also owns unHerd and The Spectator) and the Dubai-based investment firm Legatum, which is owned by the rght-wing billionaire Christopher Chandler. It is very much in their interests to keep people focused on immigration whilst they continue to profit from the ever-increasing inequality (the rich get ever-richer at everybody else’s expense) that is the primary cause of most people’s dissatisfaction with their lives.

  13. The thing is we do need drastic change and new parties to the table but that’s really not reform.
Farage and a bunch of Tory deserters backed by the fossil fuel industry are not exactly change. They will just be a more extreme version of what we currently have while tanking the economy Truss style and making working lives worse while enriching their backers further

  14. ITT redditors defending child rapists and “what about brexit?”.

  15. Can anyone tell me when was Great Britain’s Golden Age? Before Victorian times? The years prior to WWI, when lots of people were employed as servants? Between WWI and 2 when the stock markets crashed? After WW2 when we still had austerity and were paying USA back war loans. Maybe 1960s, and the youth revolution? Or the 1970s and strikes. Or 1980’s and Thatcherism, or any time since then. When was this Golden Age Farage seems to want to take up back to?

  16. What I’d love to see is them reveal what it is about their lives that’s awful and then try to explain what asylum hotels have to do with it.

  17. Yeah, it ain’t the migrants love.

But you keep doing what you’re told by the Trump and Puppets

  18. Of those men who attended the far-right protests last year, a staggering 40% have been reported to the police for domestic violence.

There is, in other words, probably no single group of people – not in Britain or anywhere else – who are more prone to violence against women than the people now standing outside the hotels denouncing refugees.

  19. Look, mass uncontrolled migration ain’t a good thing, it needs working on. (I quite like the LDs policy on it)

And yeah the media is bullshit most of the time and a normal functional adult will check other sources, but using social media instead? You’re a moron.

For fuck sake shagging the flag and blaming everything on immigration doesn’t work, especially when the immigrants they care about seemingly are always brown, not say, immigrants from Europe..

Unfortunately though in 2025 there seems to be no space for nuance in this stuff.. You’re either right, or a fascist/communist, and I hate being called either

  20. Tell me who has taken more from us men in suits or asylum seekers

  21. Britain is getting exactly what it deserves, and it’s hilarious watching it in real time 😅

  22. Who they gonna blame when it’s still a shitshow once’s they’ve got their way ?

  23. Not British so I have a question for this sub. Is it that these folks are overblowing the problem? Is there no problem? Do you not care about the problem? Do you feel that England should take every single migrant and give them free rooms, food, phones etc? Are the crime stats related to migrants I’ve seen in Europe all wrong and lies? Is it wrong for these folks to feel upset that they’re struggling and the government spends money on migrants instead of them?

  24. Also on the same Sky News feed; “Is political chaos fuelled by the media?”

  25. I read the article and thought the 78 year old is a vile person who should be ashamed.

  26. I found that guy in the picture’s twitter and look just how much he comes from a culture that respects women – he reposted this

‘No Christian man wants a wife who:

    – Has career goals
    – Doesn’t want children
    – Is loud and outspoken
    – Won’t submit to his leadership
    – Can’t keep a well-ordered home

  27. I don’t doubt their lives are shit, a financial crash, 15 years of austerity, Covid, inflation…

And it’s a shame there are no major politicians offering an alternative narrative to blaming immigrants.

This government should be improving people’s lives materially, but instead it’s playing into this scapegoating of immigrants itself.

And now anti immigrant sentiment is getting channeled into leaving the ECHR, which is utterly ludicrous. After that, it will be the UN, because of the refugee convention. And none of that will make any of these people’s lives better. It’s just sleepwalking into fascism.

And who are pushing back? Not Starmer, Sir Island of Strangers.

  28. Does any human think these asylum hotels is a good idea? Like honestly, spending billions to do it, it shouldn’t even be a question. It’s so obviously wrong.

The question should be, how long do the politicians who were complicit in the rape of the country have left before they are in prison, and do we support capitol punishment as a means of fitting legal punishment for this?

  29. “I got away from mainstream media bias!”

“Oh how, small independent but reputable reporters? Investigators debunking commonplace lies? Citizen journalists documenting the story on the ground?”

“Oh no I just Google it and then listen to whoever says what I think is true”

  30. If you think illegal migration has ruined the country then I’ve got a bridge to sell you. It’s but a small pinprick in the factors that have combined to make the UK a worse place to live than before.

  31. Protesters that seem to be able to protest during a working week, in working hours, about people freeloading off working people 🤔…
