France summons US Ambassador Kushner over ‘unacceptable’ letter about rising antisemitism

Ahead of the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Paris, which ended the deportation of French Jews, the US ambassador to France marked the day with a warning. In a letter leaked to American press Sunday, Sha Kushner accused French President Emanuel Macron of failing to tackle anti-semitism, calling it a stain that has long scarred French life. In France, not a day passes without Jews assaulted in the street, synagogues or schools defaced, or Jewish owned businesses vandalized. Your own interior ministry has reported anti-semitic incidents even at preschools. Just hours later, France’s foreign ministry hit back, summoning Kushner and calling the allegations unacceptable. They contravene international law, in particular the duty not to interfere in the internal affairs of states as provided for in the 1961 Vienna Convention governing diplomatic relations. Kushner is Jewish and his son is married to US President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka. His letter echoes comments by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who last week accused the French president of fueling anti-semitism by backing recognition of a Palestinian state. Kushner also wrote, “Gestures towards recognition of a Palestinian state, embolden extremists, fuel violence, and endanger Jewish life in France.” Nearly two years into the war in Gaza, France plans to join other countries in formally acknowledging Palestinian statethood next month at the UN General Assembly. Macron made the announcement in July, saying peace was possible and there was no alternative. He has previously called anti-semitism contrary to French values and boosted security at synagogues and Jewish sites across France.

France has summoned the American ambassador to Paris after the diplomat, Charles Kushner, wrote a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron alleging the country did not do enough to combat antisemitism.

  1. Hopefully all countries outside U.S. will apply rules where suggested ambassadors and diplomats have to prove that they have clean criminal record – to have a chance to refuse entry, before they start violating their job as a diplomat.

  2. Jared has said his family is very close to Netanyahu. So close in fact Jared stated that when he visits the Kushners in Ny, Bibi stays in Jareds old bedroom.

  3. He's truly a psychopath. He should be in prison for the crime he committed involving entrapment of his brother-in-law.

  4. Macron does not like to face the fact that he is weak and incompetent. France has no problem meddling in Israel's internal governance but cries foul when someone points out the truth about his country.

  5. Good! This man is another criminal, and his son is no better. Incompetent, pompous, a liar, and completely worthless for anything but prison. France should kick him out for good
