This song is about the Bulgarian independence war 1877-1878 and the Finnish volunteers who fought there. In the youtube comments many Bulgarians show lot of respect towards us Finns. Is this respect widespread (like to the extent that a Finnish tourist gets free drinks in a bar from you guys) or is it mostly just known by people who are deeply into history?

  1. Only a known fact from a people deeply into history. At this time ( end of 19c.) Finland is still part of Russia , so most of the people will acknowledge it’s involvement as a part of the broader volunteer movement in Russia. This will probably not lead to any free drinks – but the Vodka is pretty cheap here… so it wouldn’t matter if it’s free…

  2. History taught in school is still partly influenced by the russians as they are portrayed as the one true saviors that we should be eternally grateful to for the 77/78.

    Personal opinion, Finns are cool. Dont have anything negative to say, dont own a bar to give ya free drinks 😀

  3. Finns are cool in my book.
    I know a guy from Finland who lives here with his Bulgarian girlfriend and dude is wild. Cooks great, builds a sauna everywhere he lives, does major home construction and renovations on his own, rides a Harley Davidson, and learned in no time how to brew his own home made rakia.
    If ever 1/3 of Finns are just 50% like him, I am honoured to share a time zone with you guys.

  4. I had no clue Finns fought along side us, mad respect. I know next to nothing about Finnland, one of my favorite bands (Sentenced) is finnish. You also have very cool traditional knives, hoping one day to get a Pekka Tuominen or Jukka Hankala piece one day.

  8. I love Finland, even though I’ve never been there. Some of my favorite bands are from Finland. On top of this I hold nothing but respect for the Finns and their attitude during the Winter War. Finland carries the torch of freedom, self respect and building everything from nothing with dignity, hard work, humility and persistence. And as far as I can tell, it is the least cucked among the Nordic countries.

    Overall, cheers from Bulgaria, I love Finland and everything about it.
