Is the average Belgian familiar with Loena Hendrickx, the current World silver medalist, the first World medalist from Belgium in singles, and the most successful Belgian women’s skater in history? Hopefully she’ll no longer have to organize fundraising dinners due to lack of $.

  1. Belgium havent done a lot in winter sports so the general interest is low, sad for her but it is what it is

  2. Belgian sport media only cares about cycling and football.

Thomas Pieters may play on the worlds finest golf competition and not a single interview or article to be found.

David goffin plays top tennis and barely makes any news.

Stoffel vandoorne drove for Mclaren in F1, same story.

It’s a shame, but it is what it is.
No wonder Max Verstappen drives under the NL flag. There whould never be so much supporters and sponsors if he would’ve chosen to drive under the BE flag.

  3. I know her from the COntainer Cup & Winter Olympics.

She’s really good but yeah, bigger, more popular sports get more money.

    Supply & demand

  4. She had heavy newspaper coverage during both the Olympics and the World Championships.

But she’s still in a tiny, tiny sport in a tiny country. And as such, she suffers the same fate as many of our other world class athletes from low popularity sports.
