Orlen signed a one-year contract with Equinor for the supply of more than 6 million tonnes of crude oil, approximately 15 per cent of the entire group’s annual demand, the Polish oil company announced on Friday.

According to the deal, the oil will be supplied from the Johan Sverdrup field and delivered from the Norwegian port of Mongstad. Shipments may be directed to refineries in Poland as well as to Lithuania and Czechia.

“We are strengthening the energy security of Poland and the region as a whole. We have fully eliminated Russian crude from all our refineries, which was made possible through effective diversification of supply sources,” said Ireneusz Fąfara, CEO and President of the Orlen Management Board.

The final contract for Russian oil deliveries expired in June, marking the complete elimination of Russian crude from Orlen’s supply chain. Currently, Orlen’s refineries process feedstock from the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, the North Sea, Africa, and both the Americas. In the first six months of 2025, its facilities processed a total of 9.8 million tonnes of crude oil.
