A woman has revealed an ‘adorable’ rule in a supermarket in the Netherlands – but some tourists admitted they’d be ‘too scared to ask’.

Somi Lynda goes by @driplist on Instagram and shares her life in Amsterdam on social media.

Recently, the content creator revealed a ‘very unique rule’ that’s followed in a Dutch supermarket.

She uploaded a video showing herself shopping, and explained how customers who are fourth in the queue are able to receive their groceries for free.

In the video, Somi penned text over the footage and wrote: ‘If you’re the 4th customer in line at the checkout you’ll get all your groceries for FREE!’

The camera panned to show a sign above the checkouts that appeared to outline the rule in Dutch.

‘But only if there was no shorter line and all the desks are not open,’ the video continued.

Somi watched from afar as another customer tried to take advantage of the rule.

‘I just watched this old guy ask for free groceries because the line was long and the supermarket quickly opened other checkouts,’ she wrote.

She then turned the camera to  show the gentleman approach the cashier about the long queue.

Somi admitted she would be ‘too shy to ask if it happened to’ her.

Others commented their experiences and whether they would be brave enough to ask.

‘Yes it happened to me for being 4th and after there was a 5th …. so we both had our groceries for free…’ one said.

‘I regret that I didn’t put more groceries in my basket.’

While someone else admitted: ‘My fave supermarket, but I’d never dare to ask!!!!’

‘I saw that happen this week, a woman complaining about that, and I was like o.O, thank you for the video now I know why,’ another commented.

One person chimed in: ‘I had this happen to me once! I did not ask, but a supervisor came by and told the lady at the desk I was too far back in line.

‘Had a shopping cart full of groceries for the entire week!’

While someone else said: ‘My husband would ask, I’d be too scared.’

‘I did and it worked, another revealed. ‘I just wish I had more groceries than just milk and snacks haha.’
