There’s Trouble Brewing In the Grocery Aisle. Coffee Prices Jolt Higher.

1. I’ve bought two bags of coffee per month from the same roaster for 10 years. For most of that time they were $11/lb for very nice blends and a few single origin. In late 2022, they went up to 11.50 – inflation! Supply chain! Who knows,it was well overdue 

   In March of this year, $12.50/lb. I ordered this week, currently $14/lb. A 21% increase yoy, all because of a tangerine toddler. Happy Mug is just lucky to be in a vertical where people are VERY unlikely to give up their product, and already cheaper than most roasters.

2. My husband has had the same folgers coffee for years, nothing fancy. Since the beginning of January this year, the price from Walmart has gone up 71%! It’s insane

3. I stocked up on about a year’s worth of coffee earlier this year. Wish I could do the same with bananas.
