Any idea why it’s so low in Latvia? I’m from Germany which also has a rather low percentage in comparison and I remember it’s because of a common (stupid) belief that if you have a donor card and get into an accident, doctors will let you die instead of helping you because they want to get your organs, which of course is bullshit. But I think that has changed a lot since then, the data is 15 years old after all.
Es šaubos, ka mani orgāni ir lietojami.
Latvieši dikti savtīgi ar saviem orgāniem.
2010. gadā vispār bija tāda opcija atļaut?
‘Willingness’ is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
Most of the countries with high percentages have ‘opt out’ systems where it’s assumed you will give organs if you don’t proactively state on an official document that you won’t.
The map might as well be titled ‘laziest people in Europe’.
Look up nudge theory. You can get millions of people to do many things (like paying into their pension funds) if you just make it the default setting.
