    When Trump says “two weeks”, he means that whatever the subject is has been deprioritized for the time being and may be taken up again sometime in the future; maybe a few weeks, maybe never.

  21. obviously the 53 times he promised to end the war within 24 hours of being elected have passed.

    But aside from the multiple 2 week deadlines , there are the 50 day deadlines. so far he has gotten tough twice , once he wrote “Stop” and the other time something like “I’m disappointed “.

Yes but one must keep in mind the 2 week consideration period for Trump to think of the next 2 week ultimatum which will result in a 4 week period of planning for a meeting followed by a 2 week grace period after which a phone call will be planned in 2 weeks and a plan put in place for a 4 week ultimatum after which Trump will take 2 weeks to consider the options following which a phone call will be planned in 2 weeks. And then there will be some serious discussions over the next 4 weeks…

  35. Mm.  He should have repeatedly highlighted the actual date. Again, again, again, repeating the date and loudly crowing about how Trump won’t back down, and how much trouble Russia will have on such and such date. He should have had the media talk about the deadline date as an expectation. Something the White House would have to field questions on and understand there is public awareness of.

  38. Two weeks is soon enough that it seems plausible that people need that amount of time to put together whatever report. 

    It’s also just long enough that most people and media will move along by then. 

    It’s deeply frustrating that he’s been doing this for a decade now, and people keep falling for it.
