Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Croatia’s most famous natural landmarks, is currently undergoing a series of major upgrades designed to enhance the visitor experience while preserving its unique natural and cultural heritage.

Investments worth around €60 million are being made to restore historic hotels, build a new museum, and improve facilities across the park.

One of the centrepieces of the project is the renovation of Hotel Plitvice, which first opened its doors in 1958.

The hotel will retain its original historic charm, while the amenities will be brought up to modern standards to meet the expectations of today’s visitors.

Similarly, Hotel Bellevue is being given a complete interior makeover, with a contemporary design inspired by nature. Both hotels will include wellness zones and improved accessibility for guests with reduced mobility.

Another highlight is the construction of a brand-new museum within the park.

The museum will serve both educational and interpretive purposes, offering visitors deeper insights into the natural and cultural heritage of Plitvice.

The park’s restaurant facilities are also being upgraded, ensuring visitors enjoy an improved dining experience that complements the stunning natural surroundings.

In addition, a helipad is being built outside the park’s boundaries. This will enable faster emergency medical transport and also cater for VIP visits, while ensuring the tranquillity of the park itself remains untouched.

“We are creating a unique experience that brings together nature, history and luxury,” he said.
