Today ScotRail officially scrap peak fairs, and this reminds me of my favourite Tweet of all time.

  1. Brilliant news all around. Looking forward to the savings already.

  2. But what about shareholders? And doesn’t privatisation means cheaper because there’s competition? The profit won’t trickle down……..in a society where Capitalism is rife right now and people are being squeezed so much, this kind of stuff gives me hope!

  3. Be careful ScotRail “fans” will have you for this.

They do a good job of monitoring anything remotely related to ScotRail.

  4. I have missed traiins due to the large queues of people with off peak tickets trying to get on the first or last peak-time train, making it impossible for anyone with a peak ticket to actually board. Peak services were always a “fuck you” to customers, including those who were able to pay more.

  5. Now watch what happens to the prices of standard tickets…

  6. I used to like fairs, the roundabouts, dodgems, all the different booths.

  7. They have removed the super off peak fares that you could get if you were travelling after 11am, so today really marks the start of a price hike for those of us in that bracket!
