Geely-backed Polestar, which is headquartered in Gothenburg, registered 428 vehicles in Sweden last month, posting a 18.9% growth from the same period a year ago.
According to data released by Mobility Sweden on Monday, registrations fell for the second consecutive month, down from 538 units in July, a drop of about 20%.
So far this year, the brand’s monthly registrations have consistently exceeded the levels seen in the first eight months of 2024.
The Polestar 4 represented 242 of the vehicles sold last month.
In Sweden, the model placed seventh among fully electric vehicles, trailing Volvo’s EX40 and EX30, Volkswagen’s ID.7 and ID.4, Kia’s EV3, and Skoda’s Enyaq.
The coupe’s prices currently start at a discounted price of 692,000 SEK ($72,700), down by 8,000 SEK.
The Polestar 2 sedan is available from 579,000 SEK ($60,900). The brand sold 144 units of the model in August.
The Polestar 3 SUV represented 40 units out of the total. Prices begin at 890,000 SEK, which is equivalent to $93,600.
BYD, which sells both hybrid and fully electric vehicles, registered 97 units last month, more than doubling from the 40 vehicles sold in July. XPeng listed 49 units, up sequentially by six units.
Premium brand Nio set a new sales record in Sweden with 29 EVs in the Swedish market last month, extending the results from a campaign introduced in July on the Et5 model. Geely-backed Zeekr sold 119 vehicles.
Volkswagen, Volvo, and Toyota were the top-selling brands in the country last month.
Overall vehicle registrations slightly rose to 23,362 units, from which 15,463 were new energy vehicles — including both fully electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid models.
Their market share increased by about 5 percentage points to 66.2%, compared to the same month last year.
Fully electric vehicles made up 7,287 units, or 31.2% of all registrations. This means roughly one in every four vehicles sold in Sweden was fully electric.
However, EV sales were slightly down from August last year, when 7,477 of 22,169 units were battery electric.
