TAMPERE (Finland) – Germany continued their unbeaten start to FIBA EuroBasket 2025 with a 120-57 victory over a spirited but still winless Great Britain in Tampere.

With both sides evenly matched for the first five minutes of the first quarter, Germany began to show their class, starting with a basket from Dennis Schroder with 5:04 left in the first quarter, which gave them a 15-14 lead. This lead ultimately led to the win, as their advantage sailed beyond the 50-point mark.

Turning Point

Great Britain matched Germany in the early stages of the first quarter, even leading in spurts. But a fast break slam from Tristan Da Silva with 2:42 remaining ignited the Germans into an eventual 32-19 lead heading into the second.

It was also the highlight play of an 18-1 run that spanned the end of the first and beginning of the second period. From there, there was no way back for the Brits, with them being on the wrong end of a 30-9 third quarter, solidifying that.

TCL Player of the Game

Franz Wagner went 6-for-9 from the floor as he enjoyed a double-double of 18 points and 10 assists in just 18 minutes of play.

Tristan Da Silva paced the winners with 22 points, while Myles Hesson led GB with 11.

Stats Don’t Lie

Germany’s patient approach and solid shot selection were key to the win over Great Britain, as they shot 61 percent by the break.

Conversely, Great Britain relied too heavily on three-point shooting, with 20 of their 42 total field goal attempts coming from long range by halftime. Unfortunately for them, they only went 26 percent from the field.

Bottom Line

Germany’s final game against Finland will determine who will finish as the winner of Group B, while Great Britain will face Montenegro in their final game – hoping that a first win could still see them go through.
