Air France launched its new Embraer E190 main cabin on September 1, with the inaugural flight AF1602 operating from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Hamburg. The upgrade marks the start of a retrofit program expected to cover all E190s in the airline’s regional fleet by summer 2026.

The new cabin configuration features 110 seats arranged 2-2, with all seats upholstered in leather and equipped with ergonomic foam. Each seat measures 46 centimeters in width and reclines up to three inches, aiming to optimize passenger comfort on short-haul routes.

Passengers on board now have access to high-speed Wi-Fi, which is free for members of the Flying Blue loyalty program. Each seat includes a retractable device holder and both USB-A and USB-C charging ports. Business class customers benefit from movable curtain dividers for added privacy.

The seats, produced in partnership with French manufacturer Expliseat in Angers, are constructed from a combination of carbon fiber, titanium, and aluminum, incorporating recycled materials. The new design reduces seat weight by 30% compared to previous models, which is expected to help decrease fuel consumption.

The updated cabin style aligns with the design language introduced on Air France’s Airbus A220 fleet, featuring the airline’s signature colors. The retrofit program covers the 26 Embraer E190s operated by HOP!, Air France’s regional subsidiary. The 13 Embraer E170s in HOP!’s fleet are not included in the current cabin upgrade.

With this investment, Air France continues to renew its regional fleet and improve the onboard experience for short-haul passengers. All E190 aircraft are scheduled to receive the new interior by mid-2026, potentially impacting operational efficiency and customer amenities on European routes.
