By far the most extortionate parking in London in my experience (and I've worked everywhere in the city trust me)

  1. I know islington parking prices are insane. Yours is probably extortionate because it’s on upper street, u should try park in the hilton car park or the one near chapel market, should be cheaper per hour.

  2. It would have cost the same if you stayed 59mins

  3. Have you heard of a concept called public transport? Great for taking quick journeys to places in central London, and much cheaper than parking + congestion charge + road tax etc

  4. This really needs government intervention and control.
It’s becoming a major task to find a parking place which doesn’t require a kidney for a deposit.

  5. Ring go charges you 60p for the sms reminders. Make sure you’ve turned that off.

  6. Well yeah. We need to make driving in cities uncomfortable.

  7. You can’t drive within zone 1 and 2 of London and then complain about incurred cost of such a frivolous manoeuvre

  8. They add a fuel type surcharge which might explain it depending on your vehicle.

£20 altogether if I wanted to drive to the gym for 1.5hrs in Islington during the day!

ETA: [Fuel surcharge pricing here](https://www.islington.gov.uk/parking/where-to-park/pay-for-short-stay-parking#:~:text=Fuel%20surcharge%20on%20short%2Dstay%20parking). There’s also a [congestion element](https://www.islington.gov.uk/parking/where-to-park/pay-for-short-stay-parking#:~:text=Peak%20time%20surcharge).

  9. Is this the same case as when a tradesman only spent 10 minutes fixing a leak but charges 100 quid because they charge an hour minimum? I wouldn’t say that they charge £10 a minute in this case.

  10. Right just to clarify:

I’m a working electrician with a van full of tools and materials for on average 9/10 wildy different jobs around London a day so bicycles aren’t an option despite all your kind suggestions.

I don’t pay the charge my company does and bills the customer, this is merely an observation.

I didn’t “choose an hour and decide not to use it” I picked 10 minutes as a warden was right in front of me, and in my experience they have got rid of the 10 minutes grace rule and they will now ticket you instantly.

  11. Wow people on this sub are thick. Of course a tradesman should be carrying a fridge or 500kg of bricks with them on the Tube and anyone who drives in a city is a terrible person! All the ‘driver bad cyclist good’ agenda does is alienate people and make then more likely to vote for people who say they will ‘end the war on motorists’ e.g. Reform and undo every change to make cycling or walking better

  12. how did I know that as soon as I saw a vehicle mentioned in the post people would be on about getting a bicycle or taking the bus 😂😂
He’s a tradesman, he’s not taking that shit on a bus, and defo not on a bike either.
I’m not sure why some of you see vehicles as the spawn of Satan for some reason.

  13. Yes, that’s a lot. But unless you needed to drive for work or physical disability, it isnt unfair if you are charged punitive prices to park. Mass driving has insane costs for everyone, both drivers and non drivers. Ideally it should be disallowed altogether.
