  5. I mean burnout is no joke, I feel sorry the lady. But it’s not acceptable that her constituents should not be represented during this time; she should be obliged to resign, and hand over to a colleague.

  6. Well. I completely agree that we should have worker protections and that people should be allow sick leave, even for extended periods of time. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t acknowledge that some functions (like mayor) can have a big societal impact and therefore I think we shouldn’t just treat them as any other job and allow such long absences… Especially in the case of such a sensitive and populous area.

    So no, I don’t exactly condone this…

  9. Ah la fille de Philippe Moureaux.. Incompétence est maître de mot dans cette lignée.
    Je me souviens avoir dû subir un débat avec le père sur la charia à l’université (2012), qui avait attaqué verbalement un étudiant qui le questionnait sur la montée du fondamentalisme islamique dans sa commune.

    Il a martelé que sa commune n’avait pas de problème de ce genre et que l’étudiant était raciste de poser cette question.. 13 ans plus tard, des attentats, fusillades et radicalisme sont encore plus prononcés qu’avant.

    Toujours la même rengaine.

  10. I saw her once this year during her sick leave in the bookshop Filigranes. Chatting with other people. She did not look sick. Like any other citizen, she has the right to go wherever she wants during her sick leave but I still found it shocking for a constituent, plus she would perhaps not have been bourgmestre if her father was bourgmestre too…just buy your goddam book but try to be discreet FFS.
