Cindy McCain opens this PBS interview with a blunt line:
>*There is famine in Sudan, and quite frankly, the world isn’t paying attention to it at all. The focus is on Gaza, and I wish people would pay closer attention also to Sudan and to South Sudan.*
The contrast is striking. Sudan is facing one of the worst food crises on the planet, yet it barely shows up in the news cycle or international debate. It raises the question of how global attention (and donor money) gets distributed, and what happens when a crisis this severe falls off the radar.
