  1. Do you maybe have a google maps link/or another way for us to check the situation?

  2. From this very beautiful and artistic drawing I am assuming that what is meant is this: 50 on all main roads (Vorrangstraßen) and 30 on all side roads.

  3. Were the speed limit signs directly attached to the town sign?

  4. the way you drew it, I don’t think it exists; there must have been more (e.g. an additional sign, or the signs were at different positions)

  5. In addition to what everybody else said, oncoming vehicles flashing their lights probably means police is conducting speed checks up ahead or there is radar enforcement on this street.

  6. The extra-board under the “30” in german said: “Applies on side streets.”

50 on main, 30 if you take a turn inside the locality of Velden.

  7. pls provide an actual Google Streetview Link. The combination you drew doesn’t exist.

  8. It confuses the shit out of my cars road sign detection and instead of 80 the speed limiter drops to 30 at the northern entrance to Graz

  9. a lot of cities/towns have the 30km/h on roads except priority roads. please look up things like this before driving in a new country next time

  10. your doodle drawing is sheer poetry. hope you had a good stay nonetheless.

  11. Having spent some time around the Wörthersee just recently many towns have a general speed limit of 30km/h (30-zone), with exception of the main roads where you can drive 50km/h.

  12. If there are two Speed Limit Signs on or close to a townsign, usually the one shortly before/after the town sign or the higher one at the sign is the speedlimit for the streat going through the town/ the main road or „Vorrangstraße“. If there are extra signs with some text at one of the speed limit signs it will tell you any special rules in this case or will just clarify that the higher one is only for the main road. If you take any turn inside the town, which leads you of the main road, then the smaller speed limit is the one you have to stick to.

  13. i have been wondering this for quite some time. near where i live there is a small “tunnel” in an otherwise 100km/h zone that has a sign: 60 – gilt nur für Mineralöltransporte. Is everyone who’s driving there supposed to be able to read that? That’s quite the stretch.

  14. I hate this system of the main street 50, side street 30. Just pust the limit. Instead, I have to look for clues to understand which type of road I am on. Is this a town with this rule or not? Is this a main road or not?

At the end of the day, Austria is not happy if by the end of the year it has not fined you a couple of times. Gotta contribute to society!
