Fatal frontal collision: Five dead in traffic accident

1. Again, again and again. Way too many accidents for such a small country. This is a sign that something isn’t working properly. RIP

2. The amount of “spectacular” car accidents is worrying. Between drunk drivers and drivers flying into buildings in Neudorf and Limpetsberg, there is a trend. Perhaps a mix of various driving cultures as diverse as our residents is to blame.

   I do admit, there is no major accidents involving trucks and busses, so that culture seems okay.

   Being from Africa, we often get news of buses hitting trucks or trucks jumping red traffic lights killing multiple people of 10 plus etc. The excuse is that there is a bad driving culture mixed with fast cars and good roads.

3. I wonder what the speed limit is on that road. Perhaps 70?

   Two cars having a head on at that speed is nasty. But I suspect one of them was going faster.

   In the UK, the most frightening roads for me were some of the two way narrow country roads between towns. Often very busy because they were the main thoroughfare. Classed as an A-road but really should be B. No lights at night. No reflectors on road edges. Pubs in either town.

   I always have concerns when I’m driving on similar ones here, and this accident is a stark reminder

4. With how many egomaniacs we seem to have on the roads, not surprising. Some people just have a total lack of patience, resulting in dangerous takeovers, tailgating, speeding etc
