    Why is that seen as impossible? The middle eastern countries do it all the time.

  5. That’s more like it. Disused warehouses and a sleeping bag with basic food rations until they can be deported. Nothing more.

  9. Labour had over a decade in opposition to come up with their plans for government. All they are doing is in panic response to things that have been happening for years

    WTF did they spend all that time thinking about?

  13. I think the point is being missed here by the government again. They seem only to be focusing on the unsustainable costs of hotel accomodation and while that is an issue, it’s more about the freedom asylum seekers have to come and go and roam around our communities before being accepted and vetted. So unless these “industrial sites” are secure and guarded, it’s a sticking plaster over a gaping wound again.

  15. What’s the point in closing hotels just to move them elsewhere? The fact is, we don’t want these people here. The issue isn’t necessarily where they’re staying.

  17. They should be moved into camps outside of towns and put a fence up give them the option to go home or get back on a boat back to France.

  19. Happy to provide comfortable accommodation in hotels for women and children under 16 whilst their claims are being processed.

    All men over 16 can be housed in tented, guarded sites.
