(CNN) – An astronaut captured a rare light show from space.
Usually, the northern lights have a little more of a greenish hue, but one NASA astronaut captured an amazing, crimson-lined aurora orbiting the Earth.
Red auroras like the one spotted only happen two or three times during a six-month mission to the International Space Station.
On Earth, the northern lights were seen across several states and parts of Canada.
