    Why do MPs have to be able to choose their own personnel? Give each MP, and each constituency office, a certain number of permanent staff, paid for by the Civil Service (or a separate body if there are Reasons why that can’t happen). I’d let them have a political adviser, but apart from that, why do they need to pick their own staff?

  3. I seem to remember Andrea Leadsom promising to reform maternity cover when she was Leader of the House under May, and she did nothing.
