€10 flights to Australia in bid to attract Irish working holidaymakers – Independent.ie

  1. Be extremely wary of this offer. There’s significant shortages in the fruit picking industry in Australia where backpackers often find themselves in woeful workplace conditions. Any pay you make from a day’s wage is fleeced straight back by the farmers to cover accommodation and food for the length of your stay. Expect to return to Ireland with less money than when you started. Members of “Irish in Melbourne” on Facebook and similarly named groups are a good resource for asking the right questions before making the trip

  2. I was just filling in an application for the working visa and it says it needs proof of funds. What exactly I need to provide them with?

Do I really need to apply for a 6 month statement when it’s just to prove I have the required AU $5000 in my account?
Could I not just screenshot my boi app showing total funds?

  3. I already have an Australian citizenship and family there so I could just visit them for 10€

  4. I know a fair few folks who picked fruit etc for months, and while there were a few funny stories they had for us, it mostly sounded like it was a fucking miserable existence.

  5. Would love to go back to Australia but Adelaide is a yawnfest of a city, many of the young locals move away to Sydney or Melbourne as soon as they can. They have got gardens though and lots of them and theyre very proud of them. Yawn.
