What do we think? I’m a bit disappointed, I actually liked the beach dress from last year. I’ve also liked some of her outfits in the second season/promo so far, so I was hoping I would see some items there, I especially liked her spice yellow ensemble with the pleated skirt. I’ve read there’s some good pleated skirt dupes out there though.

  1. I feel like enough people identify her stuff and dupes that it’s not needed. She may feel it no longer suits her image. It’s a bit Influencer like and the revenue generated may not be worth any brand hit. She may also be in talks to be a brand ambassador for someone and they may not want the competition. She may also be setting up her own version. I liked looking at the things but it always felt out of place to me. I’d prefer a curated list on her own site that included things she thoughf others may like that she doesn’t own herself.

  2. I actually do think it was smart of her to realize there was money to be made from her outfits and try to profit from it. That said…it did come off a little tacky for a duchess to be basically merchandising her own clothes.

I saw a really interesting video a while ago that explained how, in aristocratic circles, commercializing your title is usually only done for charity, or when you’re broke (not saying Meghan is broke!) And that kinda explains why it feels off to see “Duchess of Sussex” slapped above a “Buy now” button 😂 It’s not like we see a lot of “Marquess of Whatever Wine” or “Viscount of Here: A Guided Historical Trauma Tour Through My Estate” lol.

It’s a very interesting topic. Basically that they signal class through restraint, not hustle, and it’s considered uncouth to commercialize on your title – not counting when it’s for charity. They still work, of course, and many run open to the public estates. But monetizing the titles is not well seen. It’s usually done through estate names instead, like the Duke of Devonshire → Chatsworth’s shop, and even then it’s presented as “charity” to maintain the estate.

That said, I think there are still accounts that post her outfits, royalbritishfashion comes to mind. Not sure why she shut down her own affiliate stuff. Maybe it wasn’t converting well, or maybe it was just too much work to keep updating the links. Could also be that she’s planning to launch her own clothing brand eventually, or to be a brand ambassador. Who knows.

  3. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s planning something new. In her recent interview with Bloomberg, she basically said don’t rule out beauty and fashion..

  4. I’m a bit bummed if this is being sunsetted. I like the LikeToKnowIt style sites like this one. And this is kindof another example of them throwing something on the wall to see if it sticks. Casting a wide net to see what makes a good revenue stream. Unless she’s about to launch something more specific?

That said, it’s so fascinating that she has so many haters who… buy everything she puts out, streams her show the second it is released, can’t stop talking about her online. At a certain point they just need to admit they are fans of hers 😝

  5. Another project she got bored with?

Wasn’t making her as much money as she’d hoped?

Just didn’t feel like putting in the effort to update?

    All of the above?

  6. I don’t buy from affiliate links and barely understand them but from your description I would have thought she’s just taking the old to add the new? And just like stores have new seasons it’s like and new stuff on their windows if you haven’t bought the old ones you will just have to buy a full price?
Wouldn’t it make sense for her to only have a few affiliate links at a time?

  7. One marketing/branding/product scheme after another. H&M would have been better off focusing on charities and not doing any of these side hustles. Give us some mystery.
