Hi everyone !

Tonight, I’m **interviewing Irish MEP Maria Walsh** from the **EPP group**, on my Twitch channel. I will be asking her about hier EU political experience, her priorities, but also asking some of your questions and those of the audience.

Maria Walsh has been an Irish MEP since 2019. She’s a member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, the Committee on Culture and Education and a substitute in the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.

Within these committees, she works on issues such as mental health and youth policy.

The aim of these interviews is for people to discover their MEPs, learn about what they do, their expertise and interact with them. It is intended as a pedagogic way to learn about your representatives in Brussels and EU politics, so we won’t go deep into policy debates and **we won’t cover national politics** (unless it is very relevant to the EU).

While most of my current community belongs to the EU bubble, I want to reach people who might be interested in the EU without being in Brussels, so they get a chance to exchange with people and experts from there and maybe learn some new things along the way. In this precise case, since the MEP is Irish I thought it would make sense to give Irish people the opportunity to pitch in 🙂

So feel free to **suggest down here questions you would like Maria Walsh to answer** !

In any case, join the discussion **tonight at 20:00** CET on [Twitch](https://www.twitch.tv/mepassistant) !

  1. Why have members of your party been prominent in spreading misinformation about the proposed turf cutting ban?

This relevant to the EU under the habits directive.

  2. Why do you support one group of refugees drowning in the Mediterranean but welcome a other group with open arms?

Doubt you’ll take the question though

  3. Does her dual citizenship pose any problems and/or opportunities for her as an MEP?

Does she have any suggestions about how Ireland can more quickly end its fossil fuel addiction, particularly with regard to transport?

  4. Fine Gael are members of the EPP, who spent YEARS wringing their hands over Victor Orbán, until he decided to leave. Do you think being part of a party who were so slow to condemn human rights abuses, rule of law backsliding and press suppression is the best path for Ireland/FG?

  5. Maria Walsh voted down a move to enhance rescue operations for migrants. In your own mind – how do you go about justifying a morally reprehensible action like this? I mean mechanically, what is the approach to structuring the argument?

  6. Does she acknowledge that the EU is not a democracy? Voting for MEPs doesn’t matter, as the Commission decides. No one voted for Ursula von deleyn, of course …

  7. Will you beat the shit out of Wallace and Daly live in the chambers with a hurley please, whilst shouting “Lie down you thick cunts!!” Thanks in advance.
