turkeys voting for christmas is what brexit was. Fucking stupid.
I’ve just had a touring company tell me that with this and the fact there’s no information on what’s needed for companies to go in to Europe that they’re not going to tour again.
With many more unaware of the rules regarding the fact that some countries require your passport to be valid for several months before being granted entry to the country to prevent people overstaying. If your passport expires in a month from when your holiday starts, countries such as Portugal will not allow you entry and there are already families being caught out by this.
The problem is that this country is literally full to the brim with morons. Did they think covid would last forever so they thought they would save a bit by not renewing? I renewed mine when 6 months from expiry despite having no interest in going abroad in December. Got it within 10 days.
Many things over the last few years have unfortunately proved the uk is populated by cretins. If the welfare state or the nhs didn’t exist the nation would be much better off. They have created an economic and dare I say, genetic underclass.
Didn’t have one for years. Did the only form got a decent referral and had one in my hand within 10 days. This was in February.
Order a replacement paper for my son (12yrs old) 2 weeks ago it came last Thursday – took 10 days I’m fuming
Got mine yesterday, applied end of January. Handed to a neighbour despite being in all day. They do have good tracking on progress though.
This doesn’t bode well for the proposal to require ID to vote.
Passports are one key form of ID and if these are delayed then what’s going to happen to the new form of free ID being brought in but run by councils? What’s the betting that Labour voting areas get even less funding in the near future too.
It’s nothing to do work backlogs and everything to do with the gov wanting to privatise the passport office, why else did Boris provide a high profile media comment right before the bank holiday? Privatising it will be fine just like it was for the post office, trains, water, utilities, busses!!!
Is the delay likely to reduce after summer? At some point I need to get my hands on some valid ID, but it’s not urgent. My passport expired a couple of years ago. It’s still valid for rental checks while expired so I’m not keen to send it off if I won’t get a replacement for a long time, in case I get notice to leave my accommodation in the meantime.
