  1. I mean, good? Seems like a low bar, but we should probably acknowledge that’s good when it happens.

  2. oh yeah is this the scenario where he pestered and annoyed a woman, and the metoo movement equivocated it to violent assault?

  3. Does anyone have a link to the actual accusations. Everything I see is vague on details.

  4. Girl went on a bad date and clearly he wasn’t a good communicator/setting up proper expectations.

All and all it’s pretty harmless. The only thing is Aziz wrote a sociology book about modern dating and had a TV show about dating in the modern world. He presented himself as somewhat an expert on modern dating and then it came out he wasn’t great at it. Seems more of an issue with image creation than he really hurt someone.

  5. Brutal that this will follow him his entire career and this nobody photographer hampered the metoo movement and will never be associated with this incident. Just gets to move on in life after having a consensual date she regretted after.

  6. He has a movie coming out with Seth Rogan and Keanu Reeves.

  7. This wasn’t an assault. Poor guy was blackballed. She was upset because he was just really bad at it. They fooled around. It kind of went away but he never recovered.

  8. It was weird seeing it happen. As if season 1 Tom Hatherford was Aziz being himself.

  9. >Ansari wanted to have sex. She said she remembers him asking again and again, “Where do you want me to fuck you?” while she was still seated on the countertop. She says she found the question tough to answer because she says she didn’t want to fuck him at all.

    >“I wasn’t really even thinking of that, I didn’t want to be engaged in that with him. But he kept asking, so I said, ‘Next time.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, you mean second date?’ and I go, ‘Oh, yeah, sure,’ and he goes, ‘Well, if I poured you another glass of wine now, would it count as our second date?’” He then poured her a glass and handed it to her. She excused herself to the bathroom soon after.

  10. I’ll die on the hill that he totally didn’t deserve all the shit he got.

  11. The woman who accused him basically single handedly derailed the whole me too movement. What started as a good thing turned in to a joke and lost all credibility because of women like her.

  12. The other shitty thing that came from this were people (myself included )paying premium prices to see his show, only for him to mope around stage and half ass apologize for the last 30 minutes of his act.

  13. I vaguely remember this happening and it really wasn’t a big deal. It was really more of a misunderstanding than any malicious wrongdoing on his part. His biggest problem was carelessness.

  14. God, this one pissed me off so much. Bogus accusations do so much harm to legitimate problems.

  15. I don’t understand why he spent there next year on an apology tour. Even the feminists seem to agree he did nothing that would rise to sexual harassment

  16. The movement that falsy accused aziz ansari?
didn’t take terry crews accusations seriously due to his gender?
stood by the abuser of an underage boy (Asia Argento)?

MeToo hasn’t been about victims for a very long time unfortunately.

  17. At its peak hysteria the #metoo movement was basically the 1950s version of the red scare and McCarthyism

  18. This is the one who said he didn’t take note of her non verbal statements? It sounds like it was just a bad date, not every bad date is a sexual misconduct

  19. her accusation against was the moment the metoo movement lost momentum. Like it was a cringey bad date, but when she wanted to leave, he called her a cab.

  20. More concerned with his performing for oligarchs in Saudi Arabia

  21. The way I think about it is a contrast curve. You don’t want to crush blacks and blow-up whites, but preserve the dynamic range so there’s the most information possible. That is awareness raising initiatives need to also bake-in nuance. You can’t lump every awkward sexual encounter into misconduct, because you end up over-punishing/stigmatizing things like bad sex or pushy people, while simultaneous reducing the stigma against the worst perpetrators, who can point out to the Aziz Anzari’s of the world to suggest the entire concept is bullshit or they weren’t doing anything egregious.

  22. I feel like I’m going crazy reading these comments saying that Aziz was blackballed or even outright saying he’s a victim. On what planet does a man behaving like this seem appropriate to anyone?

    >**She says Ansari began making a move on her that he repeated during their encounter. “The move he kept doing was taking his two fingers in a V-shape and putting them in my mouth, in my throat to wet his fingers, because the moment he’d stick his fingers in my throat he’d go straight for my vagina and try to finger me.” Grace called the move “the claw.”**

    >**Ansari also physically pulled her hand towards his penis multiple times throughout the night, from the time he first kissed her on the countertop onward. “He probably moved my hand to his dick five to seven times,” she said. “He** ***really*** **kept doing it after I moved it away.”**

    >**But the main thing was that he wouldn’t let** ***her*** **move away from him. She compared the path they cut across his apartment to a football play. “It was 30 minutes of me getting up and moving and him following and sticking his fingers down my throat again. It was really repetitive. It felt like a fucking game.”**

    >**Ansari wanted to have sex. She said she remembers him asking again and again, “Where do you want me to fuck you?” while she was still seated on the countertop. She says she found the question tough to answer because she says she didn’t want to fuck him at all.**

    >**Ansari instructed her to turn around. “He sat back and pointed to his penis and motioned for me to go down on him. And I did. I think I just felt really pressured. It was literally the most unexpected thing I thought would happen at that moment because I told him I was uncomfortable.”**

    >**Halfway into the encounter, he led her from the couch to a different part of his apartment. He said he had to show her something. Then he brought her to a large mirror, bent her over and asked her again, “Where do you want me to fuck you? Do you want me to fuck you right here?” He rammed his penis against her ass while he said it, pantomiming intercourse.**

    >**While the TV played in the background, he kissed her again, stuck his fingers down her throat again, and moved to undo her pants. She turned away. She remembers “feeling in a different mindset at that point.”**

    >**“I remember saying, ‘You guys are all the same, you guys are all the fucking same.’” Ansari asked her what she meant. When she turned to answer, she says he met her with “gross, forceful kisses.”**

  23. Did I miss additional details? It sounded like it was someone mad that they went on a date/had sex, but it didn’t turn into a relationship. Sounded like everything was consensual…
