This “journalist” is a fanatically pro-immigration Dutch woman who has been arrested in the past for hosting illegal immigrants in her house in a Greek island.
According to this “journalist”, Greece should welcome/house whoever jumps on a boat and crosses the Greek maritime border, otherwise it’s “inhumane treatment” and “cruelty”.
This sort of behaviour is exactly the sort that gives free fuel to the far-right, and also generates anti-European feelings in Greece.
We should get used to this type of mass immigration as the climate change worsens and the sea levels rise.
Well done to our PM. He put her back in her place in a polite manner.
i love it
How about finding a fair method to process asylum applications fast and to distribute them fairly into member states? So maybe they don’t need to spend years in crappy camps in Greece or in Turkey etc.
The greek can be proud to have him as PM. Perfect reaction to such an behaviour !
“There has been overwhelming evidence and you keep denying and lying. This is like narcissistic abuse. Why are you not honest? Why don’t you say ‘Brussels left us alone, we waited for six years, nobody did anything… Now I have a say and yes, I do cruel, barbarian pushbacks.'”
So she recognizes where it’s coming from and is asking for transparency on the issue.
I know the gigachads on /r/europe will still spin this the way they want though
FWIW I’m not pro-(illegal)migration, and I think western countries need to step the fuck up and help the countries on the European borders maintaining said borders, but it needs to be done with transparency and respect for the rule of law.
What went as second because of the exchange with the journalist is that the Greek pm and the Dutch pm had nothing to argue.
We have a saying in Greece “when you climb the tree everyone can see your ass”
