  1. Translation: “26 countries ready to do something when there’s no more risk involved.”

  2. Macron is a politician always seeking relevance in headlines with 0 backing. Yawn

  3. It could be even 100 countries, but if no one’s going to do it, does it really matter ?

  4. “Sending soldiers to Ukraine after a truce or peace is established, to prevent Russia from attempting another invasion.”

This is why these talks are pointless, as Russia will not agree to any truce or peace deal unless Ukraine surrenders, and that’s not happening.

  5. Why is the West so afraid of pissing off Russia anyway? Ukraine has been fighting for sovereignty and it’s a pity that the most powerful nations on Earth won’t help them

  6. Is there any way for Poland to send their armies there, without losing support from its allies? If Russia takes Ukraine, then Poland is next anyways, so why not fight along the Ukrainians now?

  7. …the day after a ceasefire or peace agreement is reached.

  8. WW3 in progress. We’re in the same situation as WW1. We’re so fucked.

  9. Just fucking do it please. Get us off this timeline. Help them!

  10. Good, hopefully European countries had invested in military/security over decades, than won’t have to run to US for security. It is Europe and European countries must defend it.

  11. Reality: few Baltic countries ready to send some troops, half of 26 ready to send weapons, other just ready to give a great concern 😅

  12. From the very beginning, everybody’s threatening to do something or ready to do something, and nobody’s following through with their threats.

  13. This is pointless discussing security as Russia will not compromise on their demands. Agreement is miles off.

  14. What’s the worst that could happen if they just send troops now?

  15. So what you need to do is to go in right now. Preferably up front. If North Korea can fight on the front line why can’t NATO members of the Coalition of the Willing?

It’s the only realistic way to push Putin back and get a just peace.

  16. Many talk, few read.

“after a ceasefire or peace agreement”.

It has always been the point.

  17. The only way the invasion will cease is via peacekeeping troops in place first.

  18. While I am gratified that some countries are preparing to form of military mission, you can bet that Putin will take great pleasure in killing a few and watching as those very same countries withdraw their troops “because it’s too dangerous”.

If it does happen, the reactive and proactive rules of engagement need to be ruthlessly applied.

But, let’s face it, Putin ain’t going to seek peace.

  19. So many are commenting without reading the article.

    > “These 26 countries agreed to deploy troops to Ukraine as a guarantee force, or to be present on land, sea, or in the air to support Ukraine and its territory **the day after a ceasefire or peace agreement is reached**,” Macron said.

  20. This is so easy!

Ukraine allies should send troops west of the Dnieper River.

Defending that area will protect civilians there, and also free up Ukraine troops to move east. If Russia attacks allies troops, they have rules of engagement that allow for immediate and consequential responses.

  21. “Ready” must mean something different in French

  22. As long as there’s no peace deal, no one‘s coming into Ukraine. Sad
