Its annoying that Israel taking advantage of stuff like this makes people ignore the very real suffering involved. I hate that people almost require a binary view of any conflict.
Isn’t this after Druzes’ violent revolt?
The Syrian government has also apparently detained and begun investigating various members of Security and Defense forces who have been accused of participating in these crimes against the Druze and those who committed crimes against the Alawites. After investigation they will be handed over to the judiciary for prosecution. Hopefully as many of those who participated in those crimes as possible are given harsh sentences to deter future actions.
The problem I have with “Government affiliated forces” is that they are muddying the water between legitimate government forces and just fanatics. In the article they say, “some had government insignias”. So were most of them not actually affiliated, just supporters?
A lot of what they initially accused “government affiliated forces” of happened before the government’s actual troops even arrived to the city.
As Alawite, I believe that all middle eastern minorities (Alawites, Druze, Christians, Kurds, Jews and etc) should be united against Sunni Arab dominance in the region. It’s time for the minorities to stand with eachother against the opressors.
An Al Qaeda faction took over a country.
What happened next was that everything got worse, especially for anyone who isn’t Sunni.
Only an absolute idiot wouldn’t have been able to predict that.
It’s horrible, I hope the Druze and other minorities in Syria will get the help they need! I hope you’re staying safe OP
Well, the US, Turkyie, and Israel put a terrorist in power. Did they really expect him to go woke?
Or did they expect Syria to go downhill like Lybia. Maybe that was the plan all along.
