The North Aegean Region is planning, in collaboration with the Greek National Tourist Organization Office in Turkey, and with the assistance of the Municipality of Lemnos and the Lemnos Hoteliers’ Association, a familiarization trip to Lemnos for an 8-member delegation of T.O’s and journalists, during the period from 6 to 9 September.
This action is a continuation of the event promoting the destinations of the North Aegean in Ayvalik, Turkey, which took place in May, and aims to enhance the awareness of Lemnos in the Turkish market and to cultivate fertile ground for pursuing collaborations with this specific tourism market. The aim is for the participants in the mission, upon returning to their country, to convey their experiential narrative through articles and posts on social media and to promote the island through professional partnerships, aiming for the greatest possible impact. Through this visit, they will have the opportunity to discover the unique beauties of the island and create fertile conditions for the increase in tourism from Turkey.
For its part, the Municipality of Chios will participate in the TOD (TOURISM OPEN DAYS) event which will be held in Paris on September 26 with the aim of promoting the island as a tourist destination, developing, expanding and maintaining relationships and agreements with tour operators and travel agents in the French market.
TOD is a Premium event that emphasizes the promotion and development of Greek tourism and takes place in targeted markets abroad, in collaboration each time with the offices of the Greek National Tourism Organization and the Greek embassy of each country – market.
The TOD journey for 2025 will be completed through 5 stops. It started from Bucharest going to Sofia and will continue to Paris, Istanbul and will end in Vienna.
The presence of the Municipality of Chios in tourism activities in France is considered particularly important, as the French market is one of the most dynamic inbound tourism markets for Greece. French travelers choose authentic, quiet and culturally rich destinations, which makes Chios an ideal choice as it will highlight the special identity of the island, such as its cultural and natural wealth, the global uniqueness of mastic and the traditional architecture of the medieval villages.
Alternative forms of tourism will be promoted such as gastronomic, agrotourism, cultural and walking tourism, which fully meet the interests of the French market.
