Is this in all of Poland? Been living here 3 weeks haven't been so frustrated w crosswalks in my entire life anywhere in the world (lived long term in ~10 countries)

-Signals don't turn green when they should, and they don't go green all at once. Can only cross some of the street
-if they all go green, you must literally run if you want to make it to the other side of the road on time

  1. there is 3 diffrent roads, ofc they dont turn green all at once

  2. It may be Wrocław thing. Road and light design there is simple horribly. Irrelevant if you are driver, cyclist or pedestrian, you will wait stupidly long for no reason.

  3. Sadly, I can confirm that it’s a real problem in Wrocław. I’ve lived here for a long time and I’m still really annoyed in many crossings when stuff like this happens. I wish I knew why it is that way and that it would change.

Sometimes the light turns green only for like 2 or 3 seconds, like the crossing through ul. Piaskowa near Hala Targowa. It is impossible to cross the street for a fit person unless you literally run. Seriosuly, what the hell. And there are more places like this, it’s not an exception.

  4. Never saw anything like that. Could be a certain city thing

  5. Lived long term in around 10 countries?

Oh okay, you must be at least 100 years old then

zebras are inefficient always and everywhere, especially in cities, cuz they lead to situations where entire city buses full with people need to wait for one guy wanting to cross it.

In 200 years people will laugh at us that we used such inefficient solutions

  6. So, lived long term in.. 10 places ..?

Then the problem is you, not the crosswalks.
Imo they are perfect, also the ones with preference, without traffic light.
Drivers are the most polite i ever saw…they stop several meters before they arrive if they see you.
    Try the same in Sicily.

  7. Intersections are designed for cars and trams first while pedestrians are an afterthought.

  8. I didn’t crop the photos, but if you didn’t zoom, 3 pedestrian lights, pic 1 it’s red-green-red, pic 2 red-red-green , it takes ages for it to all line up.

And literally must run to make it across the street!

  9. “Signals don’t turn green when they should”

And when they should to turn green exactly in your opinion? ;>

  10. It is a Wrocław thing. I haven’t seen this kind of mismanaged and unsynchronized traffic system anywhere else in Poland, it drives me crazy since I started living here. I started just walking on red whenever its possible

  11. wroclaw’s urban planning in general is terrible and might be the worst of any big polish city

  12. Believe me, as a Pole I was equally surprised while visiting Wrocław for the first time lol

  13. Yet again I learn something new about my country from a foreigners post. Apparently Wrocław has terrible traffic light. Who knew…

  14. Wrocław it the top of improperly, wrongly, broken city and its crosswalks are broken. This is Wrocław’s thing. The reason is that out city rulers prioritize road traffic above else (no matter what they say, you see this on crossroads exactly what is happening).

  15. I think the simplest fix would be to get rid of all the crossings 😎

  16. Because most Polish cities treat pedestrians as subhumans.

  17. Try crossing streets in US, you can wait 10-15 min for “green” light to show up.

  18. Honestly coming from my home town city I was shocked how good it is in Wrocław so no it is not only Wrocław problem
